Introduction to Aquatic Flow Cytometry

The Center for Aquatic Cytometry will be offering an introductory course on aquatic flow cytometry, September 17-21, 2018. The course will be held at the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences and Education Campus in East Boothbay, Maine, USA. The course is designed for graduate students, faculty members, aquaculturists, and commercial entities interested in learning how to apply flow and imaging cytometry to aquatic applications. The course will include hands-on laboratory training and lectures by experienced flow cytometrists working within the aquatic science field.

Topics to include:

• Basics of Flow Cytometry and Operation
• Aquatic Applications (detection & enumeration)
• Phytoplankton (including biovolume & biomass determination)
• Heterotrophic Protists
• Heterotophic Bacteria
• Viral Particles
• Sorting for Biogeochemical Analysis (C, N, P)
• Sorting for isolation and cultivation
• Imaging Cytometry for Aquatic Applications
• Single Cell Sorting, Whole Genome Amplification (WGA) & Genome Analysis

Cost:

The fee for the course is $2250 and includes:
