About Wendy Wolf

Wendy J. Wolf, M.D., M.P.H. has enjoyed a distinguished career as a physician-educator, scientific researcher, national health policy expert, philanthropic leader and local elected official. From 2001 to 2016, Dr. Wolf served as the first President and CEO of the Maine Health Access Foundation, the state’s largest health philanthropy. Under her leadership, the foundation gained national recognition through its public policy and programs, such as spearheading the development of the most comprehensive statewide electronic health information exchanges; improving care delivery through the integration of primary care with behavioral health services and guiding statewide outreach and enrollment for Maine’s Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace. After graduating from Denison University, Dr. Wolf obtained her MD degree from Ohio State. She completed her pediatric and pediatric cardiology training at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. As Professor and Division Director of Pediatric Cardiology in the University of Texas health system, she advanced high quality specialty care delivery, guided student and resident physician education, and performed basic and applied research. In 1998, after obtaining an MPH degree from Harvard, she served as a Senior Advisor to the Administrators of the Health Resources and Services Administration as well as the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) where she received the Secretarial Award for Distinguished Service and the HRSA Administrator’s Award for Outstanding Service. Dr. Wolf has been named among the “50 People Shaping Our State” by Maine magazine. She has authored numerous scientific publications and has been elected to several national societies. Dr. Wolf lives in West Boothbay Harbor. She previously served as the Chair of the Boothbay Harbor Board of Selectmen and Co-Chair of the peninsula-wide Joint Economic Development Committee.
