About Jonathan Bigelow

Jonathan L. Bigelow is only distantly related to Henry Bryant Bigelow but has watched Bigelow Laboratory grow as a longtime summer visitor to Boothbay Harbor. Jon built his career in healthcare communications, a field sharing with ocean sciences many of the challenges of clearly and accurately communicating key scientific findings in peer-reviewed papers and then in more accessible formats to practitioners, policymakers, and the public. He was President and CEO of KnowledgePoint360 Group until 2014, leading a team of 700 professionals in the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany to create the largest privately-held provider of medical communications, strategic consulting, workflow solutions, and benchmarking and advisory services for the biopharma industry. Previously, he was President of Cliggott Publishing, which produced medical journals and newspapers as well as related communications programs. After graduating from Brown University, Jon began his career as a medical writer and editor, becoming founding Editor of several innovative clinical journals, including the nation’s best-read practical journal for primary care practitioners. Jon was a board member and, from 2018 through 2022, Executive Director of the Coalition for Healthcare Communication, and for several years chaired an annual conference on healthcare policy in Washington. He has served on the boards of Remedy Health Media, an online patient education platform; Wainscot Media, a consumer and regional publisher; and the Association of Medical Media (including as President). He also consults with businesses and financial sponsors on medical communications, strategy, and digital and print media; is an invited speaker on health policy and communications issues; and is active in church and community groups. He and his wife, Mariann, have one grown son, and split their time between Wilton, Conn., and Boothbay, enjoying summers kayaking and hiking.
